Sanderson is the county seat of Terrell County, located in southwest Texas. This small town, situated along U.S. Highway 90, was established in the late 1800s and named after Thomas P. Sanderson, a railroad engineer. The town developed as a division point on the Southern Pacific Railroad.

Known as the "Cactus Capital of Texas," Sanderson is characterized by its rugged desert landscape and is surrounded by the scenic terrain of the Chihuahuan Desert.
