Saxonburg is a historic borough located in Butler County, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1832 by John A. Roebling, a German civil engineer who would later become famous for designing the Brooklyn Bridge, the town maintains much of its German heritage in its architecture and cultural identity.

The community was initially established as a German farming colony and was designed with a main street reminiscent of a German village. Today, Saxonburg's historic district preserves many of its original 19th-century buildings, offering visitors a glimpse into early German-American settlement life.

The town is particularly known for being the site where Roebling developed and perfected his wire rope invention, which revolutionized bridge construction and later became crucial for the elevator industry. The Roebling Museum in Saxonburg helps preserve this important piece of American industrial heritage.
