Stjärnsund is a historic industrial village located in Dalarna County, Sweden. The village is particularly known for its important role in Swedish industrial heritage, centered around the Stjärnsund Manor and its historic ironworks.
Established in 1700 by Christopher Polhem, often referred to as the "Father of Swedish Mechanics," Polhem developed innovative mechanical solutions here and established one of Sweden's first mechanical workshops. The village represents a significant example of early Swedish industrialization, where traditional ironworking and mechanical innovation merged.
Today, while much smaller than in its industrial heyday, Stjärnsund maintains its historical character with well-preserved buildings from its industrial past, including the manor house and parts of the old factory complex.
