Exhibition '1st Floor: School Days, High School, WWI and WWII' in Archives and Museum
The first floor covers the establishment and early years of the Edmonton Public School Board (EPSB). Exhibits show how the education system adapted to Edmonton’s ever-changing demographics and rapid growth in the early 20th century. Exhibits also celebrate the Commercial Grads and commemorate the heroics of local citizens during both World Wars. Featured is a bronze shield–a 1919 thank you gift from the students in Edmonton, England to the students in Edmonton, Alberta–for the valour of Canadian WWI soldiers. This historic gesture fostered a global connection that continues online today.
