Exhibition 'The Legacy of Jane Flett MacKay' in Archives and Museum

Jane Flett MacKay (1857-1947) married Dr. William Morrison MacKay, the namesake of historic McKay Avenue School, in 1874. A mother to 13 children, she also served as a nurse, interpreter and skilled practitioner in her husband's medical practice across the north. In 1989, the family settled in Edmonton. Remembered for her strength, deep family devotion and kindness, Jane remains a central matriarch in her family's western Canadian legacy.
