Exhibition ''t Wringt | it Jars' in Koppelkerk - art & culture
The work of artists Ingrid Slaa and Nelleke Ponsteen jars, it also rubs against each other in a language that both understand, the language of the body.
The body with its soft and round shapes, cuddly, soft, and accessible. But also in its resilience with hands like fists and claws....
Ingrid Slaa creates spatial work and makes prints of her body (or parts of it), which she uses as autonomous works or in installations.
Nelleke Ponsteen draws with pencil, charcoal, and pastel on paper, in both large and small formats. She uses herself as a model for her drawings.
The work of both artists is jarring, rubbing against each other in a language that both understand, the language of the body. The body with its soft and round shapes, cuddly, soft, and accessible. But also in its resilience, with hands like fists and claws....
This body language tells of an inner world that is sometimes constricted and closed off, sometimes stretched out or bent, searching for a way out. A story of oppression and lack of freedom. But also of strength and beauty that reveal themselves in the vulnerable presence of the body.
