The Estonian Historical Museum (Eesti Ajaloomuuseum) is a museum in Tallinn dedicated to the history of Estonia that is housed in the Great Guild Hall in the Old Town. The collection started as a collection of Johann Burchard, the owner of the Council pharmacy, which he started in 1802. In 1842 the Estländische Literärische Gesellschaft was founded that expanded the collection. In 1940, large parts of the collection were burned because it did not correspond to the ideology of the Soviet Union. The collection includes historically dressed mannequins and recreations of domestic interiors and army uniforms and weapons.

Estonian History Museum has 1 rating.
The Estonian History Museum in Tallinn offers visitors a comprehensive overview of Estonia's past, from ancient times to the present day. Located in the heart of Tallinn's Old Town, the museum is housed in the medieval Great Guild Hall, which adds to its historical ambiance.
Visitors appreciate the museum's well-organized exhibits that chronicle Estonia's complex history, including periods of occupation and the struggle for independence. The interactive displays and multimedia presentations help to engage visitors of all ages, making the country's history more accessible and relatable.
The museum's strengths lie in its extensive collection of artifacts and its ability to present Estonia's history in a balanced and informative manner. Many visitors find the exhibits on Soviet occupation and the Singing Revolution particularly compelling.
However, some visitors note that certain areas of the museum could benefit from more detailed English translations, which might hinder non-Estonian speakers from fully appreciating all the information presented. Additionally, a few reviewers mention that some sections of the museum feel slightly dated and could use modernization.
Despite these minor drawbacks, the Estonian History Museum is generally regarded as an informative and worthwhile attraction for those interested in understanding Estonia's rich cultural heritage and historical journey. The museum's central location and reasonable entry fee also contribute to its appeal as a cultural destination in Tallinn.
