Museum Tot Zover, also known as the Dutch Funeral Museum, offers a thought-provoking exploration of death and funeral customs in Amsterdam. The museum presents a balanced mix of historical artifacts, contemporary art, and cultural insights related to mortality and remembrance. Visitors appreciate the well-curated exhibits that provide an educational and reflective experience. The museum's small size allows for an intimate setting, but some find it limits the depth of information provided. The staff is generally described as knowledgeable and friendly, enhancing the visit with their insights. While the subject matter can be somber, many reviewers note that the museum approaches death with sensitivity and even occasional humor. The temporary exhibitions are often highlighted as particularly engaging, offering fresh perspectives on the topic. However, some visitors feel that the museum could benefit from more interactive elements or audiovisual presentations to further engage its audience. The location, within a historic cemetery, adds to the overall atmosphere but might be slightly out of the way for some tourists. Despite its niche focus, Museum Tot Zover is generally regarded as an informative and unique cultural experience in Amsterdam, appealing to those interested in anthropology, history, and the human experience.

Apart! Erg interresant maar ook eng! De kalenders in de hal vond ik te ver gaan, alhoewel ik het idee erachter wel begrijp!

Museum Tot Zover is a small museum. It organizes exhibitions on the topic ‘death’ and more specifically ‘funerals’. This makes it a very special, interesting museum. It is located outside the centre of Amsterdam, but is easily reachable by tram or buses. Recommended if you fancy something different than standard art or local history.
