It contains more than 7,600 paintings, some of them on the display here and some on loan in other museums. Being one of the most visited art museums in the world, the Prado National Museum is home to works of many famous artists, both Spanish and international, such as Francisco de Goya, El Greco, Diego Velázquez and Peter Paul Rubens. One of the most popular and prominent artworks in the museum is Las Meninas by Velázquez.
