The EYE Film museum is housed in the iconic white building at the IJ. Everything is film in EYE. This national museum of film manages more than forty thousand movies and features every genre: a representative selection of movie history, with classics blockbusters and cult movies. It is a museum of film in the broadest sense: as entertainment, art and culture. It organises four different temporary exhibitions related to film annually. An eyecatcher is the Panorma, a 360° projection of special film clips from the collection. The building also features four theatres where both new films and classic films are shown.

EYE has 3 ratings.
The EYE Film Museum in Amsterdam is a modern, architecturally striking building dedicated to the world of cinema. Visitors often praise its stunning location on the IJ waterfront, accessible by a free ferry from Amsterdam Central Station. The museum houses an extensive collection of films, movie posters, and cinematic artifacts, offering a comprehensive look at the history and evolution of film.
Many reviewers appreciate the museum's interactive exhibits and installations, which allow visitors to engage with various aspects of filmmaking. The four cinemas within the museum screen a diverse range of films, from classics to contemporary works, which is a highlight for film enthusiasts.
The permanent and temporary exhibitions are generally well-received, with visitors noting the thoughtful curation and informative displays. However, some guests mention that the content can be somewhat limited compared to larger film museums in other countries.
The museum's restaurant and terrace receive positive feedback for their panoramic views of Amsterdam's skyline, though some find the prices a bit high. The gift shop is popular among visitors, offering a good selection of film-related merchandise and books.
While most visitors find the museum engaging and educational, a few note that it may not appeal as much to those who aren't passionate about cinema. Additionally, some international visitors mention that not all exhibits have English translations, which can be a drawback.
Overall, the EYE Film Museum is well-regarded for its innovative approach to presenting film history and culture, its stunning architecture, and its contribution to Amsterdam's cultural landscape. It offers a blend of educational value and entertainment, making it a worthwhile visit for most, especially those interested in cinema.
Prachtige locatie.
