Source

Museum van Loon is located on the Keizersgracht in the house of the regent family Van Loon. Willem van Loon was the co-founder of The Dutch East India Company in 1602. One of the residents of this 17th century canal house was Dutch painter Ferdinand Bol, a pupil of Rembrandt. Portraits, silverware, porcelain and furniture from different centuries are exhibited in the rooms. The garden behind the museum has a 17th century style, with a carriage house in the back.

Museum Van Loon offers visitors a glimpse into the lavish lifestyle of a wealthy 17th-century Amsterdam family. Located in a beautifully preserved canal house, the museum showcases period furnishings, art, and personal artifacts of the Van Loon family. The carefully restored rooms provide an authentic representation of Dutch Golden Age interiors. Many visitors appreciate the well-maintained garden, which adds to the charm of the experience. The museum's smaller size allows for a more intimate and less crowded visit compared to some of Amsterdam's larger museums. However, some guests find the entry fee a bit high for the scope of the collection. While audioguides are available, a few visitors mention that more detailed information about the exhibits would enhance the experience. Despite these minor drawbacks, Museum Van Loon is generally well-regarded for its historical value and the opportunity it provides to step back in time in a genuine 17th-century setting.

If there was zero stars I would give a zero. Total waste of time and money. We bought tickets online and didn’t end up going inside because the museum decided to cover all the room walls in black and show videos of some unrelated subject. We came to see the original rooms and were promised a refund. After a week of waiting I received an email saying they don’t refund tickets. Do not visit this place!!!!
