Source

The Bourbon Tunnel (Galleria Borbonica), Tunnel Borbonico or Bourbon Gallery is an ancient underground passage that was constructed to connect the Royal Palace to military barracks in Naples. Presently the tunnels are open for tours, and contains decades of debris, including vintage cars and a discarded fascist monument made for Aurelio Padovani, captain of Bersaglieri during the First World War and founder of the Neapolitan fascist party.

The Bourbon Tunnel, also known as Galleria Borbonica, is an underground passageway in Naples, Italy that offers visitors a unique look into the city's history. Built in the mid-19th century as an escape route for the royal family, it later served as a bomb shelter during World War II. Today, it's a popular tourist attraction that combines history, architecture, and a touch of adventure.

Visitors consistently praise the knowledgeable and passionate guides who bring the tunnel's history to life. The tour takes you through various sections of the tunnel, showcasing different periods of its use. Many reviewers find the WWII-era artifacts, including vintage cars and motorcycles, particularly interesting.

The tunnel's atmosphere is described as cool and slightly damp, which adds to the authentic underground experience. Some visitors mention that the uneven terrain and occasional narrow passages might be challenging for those with mobility issues.

While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, a few visitors mention that the tour can feel a bit rushed, especially for those who like to take their time examining exhibits. Additionally, some find the ticket prices slightly high, though most agree that the experience is worth the cost.

Overall, the Bourbon Tunnel offers a compelling journey through Naples' underground history, providing insights into the city's past that you can't find elsewhere. It's generally considered a worthwhile addition to any Naples itinerary, especially for history enthusiasts and those looking for something different from traditional museums.
