Museum De Oude Wolden has a diverse collection that includes, silk suits, letters and decorated autograph books. In addition, the museum displays magical realistic works by the Dutch painter Lodewijk Bruckman. The museum monthly organises exhibitions on works by other local artists. The three main themes the museum focuses on are: art, history, and the region. Due to the temporary exhibitions, the museum changes frequently.
